At Zoet Bathlatier (pronounced zoot), we handcraft artisan candles and luxurious bath and body goods inspired by the beauty of nature and culture. The name “Zoet” is the Dutch word for sweet, gentle, and fresh, while “Bathlatier” is our own coined term—a playful blend meaning a maker of luxe home goods and bath concoctions.
Based in Malvern, Pennsylvania, we create each product with natural ingredients, high-quality essential oils, and botanicals. Our line includes not just candles, but also carefully crafted bath and body care to bring a sense of renewal and well-being into your daily rituals.
Each candle is hand-poured in small batches with soy and vegetable waxes, lead-free wicks, and fine fragrances for a clean, balanced burn. Experience the good things in life through our thoughtfully crafted collection.
About The Founder
You could say that Zoet Bathlatier’s Ilka Evans has roots in…roots. That’s because Ilka’s grandmother was a born-and bred South-Carolinian who had always created healing remedies from the various botanicals that grew wild in the Lowcountry. So it was fitting that Ilka was drawn to crafting bath and body formulations from her own combinations at an early age.
As she grew older she fell away from the hobby, but decided to pick it up again when she moved to Aspen, Colorado, and the dry air took a toll on her skin. Ilka began researching and had soon crammed her tiny apartment full of botanicals, clays, butters, and essential oils. Her concoctions were a hit with friends and co-workers, and her business “blossomed” from there.
The name “Zoet,” pronounced like “zoot” and meaning sweet, soft, gentle or fresh, is in reference to her maternal Dutch roots, and Bathlatier is a maker or seller of luxe home goods. Zoet Bathlatier has evolved from a tiny company producing gifts for friends into a luxurious one-stop shop for artisan candles, soaps and bath products such as sugar scrubs and body souffles. Many are created from organic and all-natural ingredients, and all wrapped up in gorgeous packaging almost to pretty to open (Ilka spent years as a graphic designer). For Zoet Bathlatier, everything is coming up roses.
